Where to store your luggage for the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu
You go to the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu travelling light. Most travellers leave their big suitcase in Cusco and take just a small backpack. Here is how to do it stress-free.

On the Inca Trail you hike for several days on mountain paths, and large backpacks are not allowed inside the Machu Picchu sanctuary. Tourist trains and buses also have luggage limits.
That is why almost everyone does the same thing: store the suitcase in Cusco and set off with only the essentials for those days.
What to pack in your daypack
- Your passport (it is checked at the Machu Picchu entrance).
- Entrance, train or bus tickets.
- Layers: Andean mornings are cold and middays can be hot.
- Rain jacket, sunscreen and a hat.
- Water, snacks and your medicine.
Everything else (extra clothes, souvenirs, the 23 kg suitcase) can stay safely stored until you are back.
How to leave your luggage with us
- Book online at storagecusco.com: choose how many bags and your drop-off and pick-up times. The price is calculated instantly.

- Pick it up when you return, whatever time you arrive: we are open 24 hours, 365 days a year.
For multi-day trips you pay per night: the daily price per bag for each night it stays with us, whatever time you pick up.
